Today is the Earthquake Memorial . The prime minister John key will be talking about those who died in the earthqauke . There will be two minutes silence for those who died and there will be certificates to give out to the people who helped other people who got injured.
Harewood School had their own memorial remembrance gathering at 10.15am on Wednesday 22 February 2012. We planted native trees and had 2 minutes silence to remember the people who lost their lives, homes, jobs and pets. We hope our city will be re-built.We put butterflies by the plants. One day our class would want to see it grow bigger and bigger. We sang a song called E tu kahikaitea. The meaning of E tu Kahikaitea is a tall strong tree that growes bigger and bigger. Our tree is a broadleaf
This is a photo of Room 8 beside their tree with the butterfly on the stick beside it.
