Creating Our Jubilee Quilt

SEWING!!!!!!!!

In Room 8 we have been sewing a quilt for the 150th Jubilee. Each of us have made a patch  of something special from Harewood School. We learnt what we need in a sewing kit that contains :
  • Needle
  • Cotton\Thread
  • Pins
  • Scissors
  • Tape measure
  • Thimble
  • Buttons
  • Ribbon
  • Needle Threader
  • Pin Cushion
We learnt all different kinds of skills.

We made up some rules here they are :
Never use your sewing scissors to cut paper,
cut your fabric from the outside never from inside.
keep your pins and needles together.
don't drop material on the ground  or people will use it all then you wont be able to use the material!!!!!

Our wonderful mums and Nana's came to help us out.

Mum's Willow Pattern Teaset

I brought my mum's old miniature willow pattern teaset to school to share. The willow pattern has lots of trees in it like my Mum's old teaset. She used to play with it a lot. Abby and I are having a tea party ( just the right day too - Miss France had cupcakes for Miss Chisholms birthday and we got 1).

Here is a video of the story about the Willow Pattern

The original willow pattern design shows three men crossing a bridge outside a temple, surrounded by trees. There is a boat on the river and two birds overhead.
'Two birds flying high,
A Chinese vessel, sailing by.
A bridge with three men, sometimes four,
A willow tree, hanging o'er.
A Chinese temple, there it stands,
Built upon the river sands.
An apple tree, with apples on,
A crooked fence to end my song.'
